In Reality Bites, Steve Zahn played Sammy, a clean-cut, awkward, essentially celibate gay man who was a friend of the main characters: he was there, like, most gay sidekicks, to give clever one-liners - although he does get a brief scene in the film in which he comes out to his mother.įor his performance as a con artist forced to play gay, Zahn won a special acting award at the festival, a much-deserved token of appreciation for an actor as underrated as he is original. Zahn researched the role by watching chimp videos on YouTube, and later said that the motion capture process and lengthy digital takes made Bad Ape “the most challenging acting job I’ve ever had”. In 2017, he played Bad Ape in War for the Planet of the Apes. Zahn has worked regularly in television, playing the role of Davis McClary on 36 episodes of HBO’s Treme. It premiered on April 11, 2010, and concluded on December 29, 2013, comprising four seasons and 36 episodes. Zahn and his family live in Georgetown, KY, United States, on a 360-acre horse farm outside of Lexington, Kentucky, where Zahn gardens and raises horses, goats, and sheep. Zahn plays the role of Marvin in a 2003 American family comedy film Daddy Dar Care. Zahn, a University of Kentucky sports fan is often seen at games and events. The next few months will see the band release “Grandstanding in Ireland, the Uk and Japan” The Laundry Shop will also be touring continuously over the coming months. Highlights being, appearances at Castlepalooza and Indie-pendence festivals over the summer. The following months saw the band developing their explosive live set, playing electrifying shows across the country. The album was finaly mastered by the legendary Ted Jensen, (Metallica, Greenday, Slipnot, etc)ĭelighted with the results, the band set up their own Record Company, “Medicine Ball Records” to release all their future music on. ![]() Their debut, “Grandstanding” has been described as “One of the most exciting and breathtaking records to come out of Dublin since Whipping Boy’s” (Heartworm).Īfter completing the recording and engineering of the 11 songs which make up the band’s debut Album, “Grandstanding” Stephen passed the tapes on to Industry Veteran, Marc Carolan (Muse, Snow Patrol, JJ72) who kindly returned from engineering Muse’s monumental Wembley performances to put the finishing touches to “Grandstanding”. The Song received a lot of attention and is still a huge live favorite for the band. The band released it as their first single and it went top thirty and received a five star review in the Irish Times. During this period one of Steve’s compositions, “All these Highs and Lows” was picked up by Discover Ireland to promote their summer campaign. They toured with The Coronas, Ham Sandwich, Stanley Super 800, Future Kings of Spain, Lazarus Soul, The Flaws etc. Next came the job of recording and producing the Debut Album, “Grandstanding” while the band played all over the country. The two elements of their songs are constantly at war with each other, melodic escapism and a bombastic rhythmical realism. Beautiful and haunting whispered vocal harmonies set against a grungy onslaught of slacker guitar hooks. ![]() The direction of the music instantly took off where his last band ended. Still without a band, he drafted in Swedish Denise Roxenhamn to play the bass, later joined by drummer Andy Hamilton. Undeterred, Steve soundproofed the Laundry room of his rented house with his brother and built a recording/rehearsal studio. The following months proved to be a dark time having become disillusioned an frustrated with the music industry. The band tragically broke up under the weight of “Next Big Thing” hype. During this time he won awards and played around the world as well as supporting the likes of Good Charlotte and Snow Patrol. Steven gained huge international critical acclaim with his last band, Angels of Mons. The driving creative force behind The Laundry Shop is Front man/Singer and Songwriter Steve Robinson. ![]()
